I could use my collection of crystals to start a whole new line of jewelry. My line would combine beautiful jewelry with health and wellness benefits.  I was already making the elements; I just needed to learn how to solder them. The first one I did was awful, I dismantled it and started over. I was using a soldering gun, and my metals didn't match. It looked horrible!

I got back online and started looking for more tutorials, and I found one that blew me away. The woman in the tutorial made it look easy. There was no way I could afford the setup she had. I knew I could do it, but the startup cost was insane. I would need torches, solder, new metal, pickle, a pickle pot and so much more. I went to a jewelry supply site and added everything I needed to the cart. It was more than I had to spend. I just couldn’t afford it. A few months later my dad passed away unexpectedly, and I decided at that point that I needed to do this. I needed to find a way to make it happen. I started saving money until I could afford a little bit here and there. When the stuff started arriving, I couldn't wait to start.

Finally, the day came where I had gotten enough to start soldering. I was so excited that I couldn’t wait. I finally had some time so I sat down to start, and...complete failure. Nothing was working. My solder wouldn’t melt, and I couldn’t figure out why. After much research, I finally figured it out. By the time all was said and done, I have almost double the amount into the start-up.  I don’t mind, I learned so much along the way.

Every piece is completely hand made. The chains are store bought just to save time.

I hope to keep learning more and adding more complicated pieces as I go.

Along with my necklaces in jewelry, there will be a description for anyone who is interested in Crystal, Gem and Metal Magic.

ABOUT TWISTED METAL JEWELRY

My name is Tammy.

I started making jewelry years ago. In the beginning, I was making everything with seed beads . I loved making jewelry.

Then I fell in love with crystals. I found a book on gemstones. The more I read, the more I wanted to learn. The book was Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem & Metal Magic by Scott Cunningham.

While shopping, I found a book on twisting metal.  I bought some metal and decided to give it a try on my own. Luckily, Youtube was full of tutorials. My first few pendants were awful.

Then one day I came across a video for soldering. Here was the perfect way to combine two of the things I loved. I could use my collection of crystals to start a whole new line of jewelry. My line would combine beautiful jewelry with health and wellness benefits.
